To learn the truth about the viral claim, we started searching Google with related keywords. We found a post related to the claim from Gautam Gambhir’s verified X handler. In a post made on November 8, 2023, Gambhir refuted the viral claim by sharing a screenshot of a CNN-News18 post. The inscription is written in English. The Hindi translation is: “What nonsense! When I say something, I say it openly. From all the so-called verified handles – cite sources or apologize!”
Following this tweet from Gambhir, CNN-News18 made a tweet from the official X handle. The caption of the tweet, made on November 8, 2023, is written in English. The Hindi translation is: Dear @GautamGambhir, We apologize for the inadvertent error and inconvenience caused. It was never our intention to hurt or mislead. We have the utmost respect and honor for you. Story removed.” Following this tweet by CNN-News18, Gambhir made another tweet praising the action. Which can be seen here.
During the search we found an article published in Dainik Jagran on October 9, 2023. News Found. In which it was said, “I saw well against Australia in the first match of ICC World Cup 2023. Gautam Gambhir is also crazy about Virat’s amazing batting. Gambhir says Kohli is an example for young players. we have many of them News Found in which Gambhir praises Virat Kohli.
We spoke to Dainik Jagran’s sports correspondent Abhishek Tripathi about the viral post. He called the viral claim wrong. He says there is nothing true about that.
Finally, we scanned the page sharing the post with the false claim. We found that 11 thousand people follow this page. The page shares posts related to cricket.
