New Delhi | Vishwas News: The polling date in Madhya Pradesh is nearing, leading to growing confusion among political parties regarding the election campaign. Along with this, a KBC video has been circulating on social media alleging that it contains questions about the loan waiver scheme for farmers by the previous Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh.
After investigation, Vishvas News found that the viral video had been edited and manipulated. In fact, KBC was not asked any questions related to the Kamal Nath government’s farmer loan waiver scheme. The video changed a question about Karnataka and Gujarat. Sony TV has officially denied these claims through its social media.
What goes viral?
While sharing the viral video on November 11, 2023, Facebook user ‘Sukhdev Panse Fans Multai’ wrote in the caption “Former Kamal Nath Govt Farm Loan Waiver Scheme in Madhya Pradesh. Kamal Nath government reiterated the issue of loan waiver for farmers in KBC, Amitabh said that after Shivraj came to the government, the loan waiver scheme for farmers has been stopped.’
Vishvas News Investigation:
To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we started a Google search using relevant keywords. However, no news was found to support the claim. Continuing our investigation, we searched for the official YouTube channel of Sony Entertainment Television India (SET India). Found the original video uploaded on November 6, 2023.
The segment in question appears between 30 seconds and 2.57 minutes, where Amitabh Bachchan shows a map highlighting Karnataka and Gujarat. These states are subsequently questioned, giving the player four options. After the player chooses the second option, confirming its correctness, Amitabh elaborates on some aspects related to the two states.
A further check on Sony TV’s official X account revealed a post dated November 9, 2023, where Sony TV specifically denied the viral claim. It was further mentioned that cyber crime authorities have been informed and appropriate action is being taken.
To get an insight into the viral video, we consulted Parag Chhapekar, a senior entertainment journalist in Mumbai. According to him, “This video has been edited and the question has been changed. No such question was asked. Similar allegations about KBC have been circulated in the past as well.”
Finally, we verified the profile of the user who shared the viral video with false claims. The user appears to share posts aligned with a particular ideology and boasts a following of 2,200 people with 2,000 likes on their page.
