After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the World Cup 2023, Team India’s star batsman Shreyas Iyer has also scored a tremendous century. In the last match of the league stage against Netherlands in Bengaluru, Iyer scored his first century of the World Cup in just 84 balls. For Team India, which was playing its last match before the semi-finals, Iyer scored a century and ended his wait. Before this, he had been out after coming close to a century in the last two consecutive matches. With this, he became the third Indian batsman to score a century in the World Cup 2023.
On Sunday, November 12, the day of Diwali, Team India’s batsmen set off fireworks at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and Shreyas Iyer stole the show. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill once again made a strong opening partnership and scored their respective half-centuries. Virat Kohli, who came after him, also played a consistent innings and scored another half-century in this World Cup. All three batsmen could not capitalize on the chance of a century. Shreyas completed his task.
